This summer we are hosting our first intern. Rose Gillis. She's helping us with a variety of projects this summer, including managing product inventory, packing and delivering orders, setting up and taking down fence for grazing, animal health work, and other work around the farm.

We're excited to have her with us for the summer! Here's a little more about Rose:

Name: Rose Gillis

Hometown: Deer Park

School/Year/Major: University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Going into my sophomore year, Agricultural Education with a minor in agricultural business

Career Plans/Interests: I don’t have any set plans yet, but I do know that I want to educate others about all agriculture has to offer

Agricultural Background: I grew up on my family’s beef farm and I have raised and shown beef steers for over a decade at my county fair. In high school, I was a manager at our school farm (The SOAR Center) where we raised cattle, goats, chickens, and ducks. I am also currently serving as the 2021 St. Croix County Fairest of the Fair, where I have the amazing opportunity to advocate for agriculture and the fair industry.

Why was I interested in this internship: I have always wanted to raise goats, and my dad always told me no. So when I saw the chance to get some hands-on experience with goats, I jumped at the chance! I am also very interested in small ag businesses, so I was excited to see how Cylon Rolling Acres operated.

Looking forward to: I am definitely looking forward to more hands-on experience with goats and sheep. I believe that any experience with agriculture is an opportunity to grow and learn new skills!
